What’s the difference between a photo session and a purchasing appointment?

The photo session is when your photographer works with you to create imagery to match your clothing and personality. Our photographers suggest locations that fit your clothing and style. The purchasing appointment is when you choose your favorite images, purchase prints, products, and wall art to commemorate the special moments in your life.

What is included in a photo session?

Our photo sessions include the photographer's time, proofing, editing, color correcting, and enhancements of your photos. Prints, products, and digitals are are purchased separately. At your purchasing appointment, you will have the opportunity to choose and invest in beautiful prints and products to cherish for years to come.

What should I do with my photos?

We love the idea of having our photos taken for special occasions, but after the photos are taken and shared on social media, what do we do with them? In-Focus offers ways to not only share the love of your photos with family and friends on social media but create beautiful art pieces that can be treasured forever.

Newborn Sessions

When should I schedule my newborn session?

Babies change so much even in the first few weeks of life. Their tiny toes slim fingers and entire being are continuing to grow every day. This is why we recommend Newborn sessions are best scheduled in the first two weeks of your infant's life.

Where is the ideal location for a newborn session?

It's all about the baby now. Wherever your baby is most comfortable. We love personalizing photos in the baby's nursery or the comfort of your home. If you want to venture out, our studio sessions are focused on you and your baby, allowing you time to nurse, calm the baby, and change diapers if needed.

What should I bring to a newborn photo session?

The focus is always your little one, but feel free to bring family members to add to the joy. Father, siblings, and even grandparents are encouraged to share the love. Keeping outfits simple is best. We start with your favorite outfit, and see how many outfits your newborn tolerates. Feel free to bring three outfits but we may only use one or two. We suggest bringing wraps or blankets, stuffed animals, rattles, or any nursery favorites to bring to the session.

Pet Sessions

How do you tame active or excited pets?

When your pet comes in for the session, we allow them to get used to their surroundings. We don’t remove their leash right away until they can sniff around and become comfortable. When the time is right we take off their leash, position them, then we have a wide range of noises that we use to get their attention. We offer treats as a last resort.

What kinds of pets do you photograph?

We photograph all types of pets. Dogs are the most popular, but yes we photograph cats, birds, reptiles, and even farm animals and horses.

Can I be in the photo with my pet?

Yes, we encourage you to be in the photo with your pet. Pet owners love their dogs and it shows when they are being photographed with them. Be prepared to be in a few images.

Headshots

What should I wear?

When considering a photo session this is always the first question. What do you typically wear for your profession?  If you are required to wear business casual, this would be a great place to start. We recommend solid darker colors to compliment your hair and eyes. If you have blue eyes, navy would be a great choice. For brown eyes burgundy, black, or dark brown compliment well. Keep it solid and simple.

Where should I take my headshot photos?

Our studio offers a place to photograph classic headshots. Feel free to bring in some of your favorite things like a plant, coffee cup, or a book to personalize your session. For something more unique we can photograph at your workplace, home office, or outdoor location. We love to brainstorm. Depending on your profession, we can incorporate your job into your headshot photos. As an example, a realtor may have a home they just sold in the background of their photo.

Are my headshots retouched and how long does it take?

We want you to look your very best, so all of our professional headshots are enhanced, retouched, and color corrected. Our normal processing time is one week. We understand you need your professional headshots as soon as possible, so arrangements can be made for a quicker turnaround if necessary.
